The Best Wood Crosscut Saws of 2024

The perfect professional crosscut saw for everyone doesn't exist. However, there is the best wood crosscut saw for you and your business. Obviously, many aspects and variables need to be considered, but making the most suitable choice when purchasing such a machine is not only possible but crucial, especially for professionals.

Today, we want to give you some advice on how to make the right choice for an effective purchase, one that can truly solve your work problems, saving you time and money.

What wood crosscut saw to buy in 2024

If you're wondering which crosscut saw to buy, know that we understand how important this choice can be for the future of your business. Woodworking is an industry where technology, innovation, and sustainability move at a fast pace, but maximum efficiency, execution speed, extreme safety, and millimeter precision are also always required.

Because of the precision required in the wood industry, for cutting pieces of wood of various sizes, the crosscut saw proves to be an absolutely indispensable piece of equipment. To choose the right tool for your company, you need to evaluate every detail so as to make a conscious, safe, and forward-thinking choice.

You definitely need to consider your specific situation and the products you'll be making with this machine: from here depends the cutting thickness and the maximum wood cutting width.

How to choose the cross cut saw

In this short guide we share with you what we think are the features to take into consideration when choosing a professional cross cut saw.

- Manual, automatic or semi-automatic

We exclude manual cross cut saws, because they are not professional products and are not suitable for SMEs, large companies or industrial environments such as carpenters or sawmills. Instead, let's evaluate the difference, the pros and cons, between an automatic cutting machine and a semi-automatic one, for example like our Legend series machines.

A semi-automatic cross cut saw for quick, precise and safe cuts undoubtedly represents a very valid ally that supports the operator's work: once the load has been loaded, all he needs to do is operate the cross cut saw with the two-manual safety control to start the cutting, but the machine takes care of everything else.

An automatic cross cut saw, such as SalvaPush_2000 or Combo, has a numerical control system. For our machines we have developed a power system that works with numerical control. The computer and the servo drive are connected via EtherCAT connection. Furthermore, the fixed reading system is composed of a laser photocell that recognizes the presence of the board and a luminescence reader for the fluorescent signs, so as to eliminate defects in the wood and optimize work and productivity to the maximum, without unnecessary waste of the raw material wood.

In short: maximum yield, minimum effort. In this case, in fact, you can count on highly performing and safe equipment, in which human error is practically reduced to 0, but productivity goes to a thousand.

- The support base

Safety first! Our woodworking machines are designed with a solid ground anchoring system with flanged steel feet for the hole. Secondly, we also think about the worker's comfort: the bimanual safety control for starting the cut is in fact placed in an ergonomic position.

- The diameter of the blade and the power of the motor

The blade is one of the elements to pay most attention to, because it can be said to be the fulcrum of a cutting machine, what determines its effectiveness. Ours are all made of steel, robust and durable, and have a rotation speed of 2750/2800 rpm.

As regards the power of the blade motor, our machines - from Legend 400 to Legend 600 - vary from 3.0kW up to 9.2kW.

- The work plan

It may be obvious, but it is better to underline that an ergonomic and functional infeed table can make the difference. The infeed table of Salvapush_2000, for example, is inclined by 25 degrees to aid loading and keep the piece close together without increasing the height of the surface itself.

- Cross cut saw accessories

Accessories also play a fundamental role in choosing the best professional wood cross cut saw. Any examples? Well, our semi-automatic miter saws have a pneumatic upper presser for clamping the piece with electro-pneumatic management. They also have a presser movement system via ball slides with double dust protection and automatic lubrication system.
